- Rest. Protect the injured or sore area. Refrain from any activity that puts stress on the afflicted area or may worsen the injury.
- Ice. Apply ice to reduce pain and swelling.
- Compression. Compress or wrap the injured area to help decrease swelling.
- Elevation. Elevate the injury while applying ice. Try to keep the area at or above the level of your heart to help minimize swelling.
